Cheerleader Sex
John Green is the author of various books, specifically teen romances. He wrote The Fault in Our Stars and Paper Towns. Although Green is a romance novelist, he still has his views on issues such as immigration. He sees the "American Dream" as a joke. He even expresses it in a quote about cheerleader sex.
John Green said "... my parents left Korea with nothing but the clothes on their backs and the considerable wealth they had amassed in the shipping business, they had a dream." Green isn't Korean, but he used this as an example of immigrants coming to America for a better life and having to sacrifice everything. Cheerleader Sex is his way of referencing the American Dream and the opportunities America offered, "...for my parents and indeed for all immigrants who came to this great nation in what they themselves could never have: cheerleader sex." With this saying that America isn't really the land of opportunities for immigrants. He even goes as far as to mock it, he states, "They had a dream that one day amid the snowy hilltops of western North Carolina, their son would lose his virginity to a cheerleader in the woman's bathroom of a Waffle House just off the interstate." John Green is exaggerating when he says this, but his reason for exaggeration is because he's being sarcastic and mocking of the American Dream.
All together, John Green was being sarcastic and mocking the American Dream, by referencing it to cheerleader sex. He also expresses that the American Dream is materialistic, living it big makes the American Dream accomplished; but he doesn't believe this, John Green believes the American Dream is just a big illusion and a joke that can be made fun of.

- Decent conclusion
